This is a dynamic process that defines the big picture of your company and then provides a solution on HOW you can go forward.

  • At the centre of the pyramid is your personal evaluation. Identify your personal vision and goals, and then devise Strategic Planning for your business using the Now, Where and How approaches.

NOW.
The first step in the pyramid is to understand where the business is Now.

Identifying the Now
  • Simplifying your business and 'stripping it to the bare bones' for scrutiny
  • SWOT analysis - analyze your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats
  • Target your ideal client and market - make a checklist to tailor your services
  • Broach key frustrations - both yours and your clients'/prospects' that affect your business
  • Identify your competitive advantages - what do you have that no one else possesses or offers?
  • Organizational Structure - how do you see going about obtaining your ideal customer?

WHERE.
The second step in the pyramid is to develop the personal and business visions of the leaders of your business in a format that can be shared with the other members of the business team and people that you respect.

Identifying the Where
  • Mandates you set for your business' future
  • 5-year financial goals - your expectations within a 5 year period
  • Purpose statement - why are you operating? Why do you exist?
  • Mission statement - what can you accomplish as a company?
  • Core values - In this section, list, in point form, any past experiences which generated a high degree of self satisfaction.

HOW.
The third and a final step in the process is to determine How the business is going to achieve the vision. Brainstorming with key players in the organization and your trusted associates outside the business, and developing key performance indicators which provide early feedback to the business owners are key to zeroing in on the most effective "HOW" strategies. Use and improve on these strategies to build your business.
